Laylatul mi'raaj

Question: Ml, my husband insists that I should bath my son, dress him nicely and send him to the masjid with him on the 27th Rajab, because it is big night. Is there any basis for this from the Quraan and Hadeeth? I don't want to commit a bid'ah. What about eating Niaz etc?

Answer: There is no such practice recorded in the Ahaadeeth, as you have mentioned. The 27th of Rajab is a great night indeed. It was the night that Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم went for Mi'raaj with his physical body and soul.

There is no masnoon fast to be kept on the 27th day, nor are there any "special" ibadaat to be performed on this night. The distribution of Niaz etc is also a bid'ah practice which must be avoided. We should attend the Masjid for every salaah, not only on the 27th Rajab. We do not want to be turned away from the fountain of Kauthar for innovations in the Deen, now do we?

'My friends care for me. You [my parents] do not! I'm better off with them. Only they understand me, so stop telling me what to do in MY life.'

Very common and disrespectful statements from children these days..

Your helper (friend) is none but Allah and His Messenger and those who have believed - those who establish salaah and give zakah, and they bow [in worship].

If you have friends like those mentioned in the Ayah, then you have true friends. These friends direct you to what is good for you.
