Are non alcoholic beverages Halaal?
Question: I was in a shop and came across a drink which states that it did not contain alcohol. The contents of alcohol is just 0,05 percent alcohol. I asked a Molvi regarding the permissibility of the drink. He said that it is fine to consume. Are non alcoholic drinks which contain absolutely minute amounts of alcohol permissible to consume?
Answer:
Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم has said, that which intoxicates in a large quantity, to consume a minute quantity of it is also Haraam. The Hadeeth is very clear in this matter. Even if one is going to consume a very minute amount of alcohol, it still remains Haraam.
Under government regulations, a drink can be declared non alcoholic if it contains 0,5% or less alcohol. In Shari'ah this rule has no validity. The contents still remains Haraam. The Molvi has made a huge blunder. He should not ill advise the masses. All drinks which have even the slightest amount of alcohol content, remain Haraam.
Will the Molvi drink the beverage if I add just 0,5% of urine?
